Endless Possibilities

As adults, it’s easy to see something broken or unused as just another item on the to-do list. Children, however, see possibility. At FPR, broken boards are given new life—they become bridges over puddles, forts tucked into bushes, or a see-saw when balanced just right on the edge of the volleyball court. Cardboard boxes transform into cars, rolling suitcases, or swords to fight off dragons.

Every Friday at FamilyPoint, “Sea World” opens its gates. There are dolphins, pandas, and more. Jobs are assigned, friends are invited to visit, and problems—inevitably—arise. One Friday, however, Sea World was closed because someone broke the bridge. There was an investigation, accusations, and a lot of feelings. At one point, Mariah declared, “No, he’s not going to sue us. He can’t do that.”

At Sea World, future engineers design structures, lawyers draft safety policies, accountants determine prices, and scientists care for animals. To an untrained eye, it might look like nothing more than broken boards and picnic benches—but something far more important is happening.

These moments—when we encounter the unplanned, the unexpected, even the “so boring”—are invitations to discover another way forward. They shape character. They teach collaboration. They demand creativity. And sometimes, they build incredible worlds we could have never imagined.
