PART OF A TEAM

Over 16 years ago, FamilyPoint started our first program. It was a baseball team pulled together with the help of Robye Snyder, then principal of MWE. She noticed the extra curricular opportunity gap among her students and how that impacted their level of hope, confidence, and perseverance. That first season we lost, every single game. However, we won when it came to impacting the lives of the players. In one season, they had been transformed into more social, more confident, and happier children.

This year, Coach Joseph, the guiding force behind the Boys FPR Premier Hoops Basketball Program, stood with a huge smile at practice. He proudly listed off the names of our players who tried out and made their school’s team. 9 of the 26 SFMS 7th grade A and B Team players were affiliated with FPR Premier Hoops, while another 4 made the Stratford Freshman B Team. It was an incredible accomplishment, a door opened because they were given an opportunity.

In the realm of sports, and life, winning and losing are inevitable outcomes. However, the final score is not what determines our worth or defines us as individuals. It is the supportive relationships built with our teammates and coaches, the tenacity developed through practices, and the character shaped by overcoming challenges. For so many children, being a part of something that allows them to discover success is life changing.

Thank you to the FPR Family, the participants, staff, volunteers, parents, and donors, who support our programs and help transform lives. Together we are breaking cycles of poverty and making this world a better place.
