TIME TOGETHER

In October, Farah, our Arts & Education Director, invited her 5th graders and their families to watch the Nightmare Before Christmas and carve pumpkins. Despite the raw smell (which is not as pleasant as a pumpkin spice candle) and the slimy guts they did a spooktacular job scraping out the pumpkins. This was the first time anyone in the group had ever carved a pumpkin. It was a wonderful night that brought families together to connect and create memories.

A few weeks later FJWC hosted a Halloween Party at FPR. The children had a blast playing games, eating treats, and exploring a haunted house. Logan, a second grader, returned home from the party with a huge pumpkin. His dad texted a few days later to thank FPR for everything. For the all activities, for the pumpkin, for Farah teaching him how to carve a pumpkin so he could teach his son.

Sometimes the seemingly simple things in life can be the most profound. Showing that you love someone by spending time enjoying their company can be transformative. Laughing together while struggling to overcome the slimy, messy part of baking cookies or carving a pumpkin builds perseverance and hope. Sharing your knowledge and wisdom supports, nourishes, and enriches relationships. Showing up, just as you are, can be the greatest gift.

Thank you for showing up!
